Per multiple sources, pending free agent DT Tom Johnson has decided to stay with the Vikings, and will reportedly sign a 3 year, $7 million dollar deal.
According to Chris Tomassen of the Pioneer Press, Johnson will get a $1.5 million signing bonus, with $3 million guaranteed.
Johnson, who spent his first three years with the New Orl [EFF THOSE GUYS] ints, had a career high in sacks in 2014, with 6.5. that's a pretty impressive number for an interior lineman, and it's even more impressive when you factor in that Johnson was a backup on the inside, rotating out for starters Linval Joseph and Shariff Floyd. He saw action in all 16 games last year, and because of injuries, also started two games, the first two starts of his career.
In October, Johnson was arrested outside of Minneapolis steakhouse Seven on disorderly conduct and trespassing charges. But if you look at the video of the incident, Johnson's side of the story, where he says he was assaulted by the police and not the other way around, has some serious legs to it. That case will go to trial later this spring.
So, the first domino officially falls for the Vikings as Johnson will be back in Minnesota for 2015 and beyond.
