Minnesota Vikings Draft Survivor: Shaq Thompson Eliminated

New, comments
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Shaq may be a bad mutha (shut yo mouth), but he is not going to be the winner of our Minnesota Vikings Draft Survivor contest for this season.

Washington linebacker Shaq Thompson is the latest prospect to have his torch extinguished in our competition. He won the competition this time around fairly handily, amassing a little more than 32% of the vote. Of the 1490 votes that were cast in Round Five, 478 of them had Thompson's name on them.

The battle for the runner-up spot was a bit more interesting this time around, as three different prospects found themselves in the mid-to-high teens in vote percentage. Alabama safety Landon Collins was the runner-up this time around with 19% of the vote, while LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins was just behind him at 18%. Washington cornerback Marcus Peters also got a fair number of votes, winding up with 16% of the votes cast.

The low man on the totem pole this time around was Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff, who received just 21 votes to get booted off the island, or around 1.4%. Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes was next with 31 votes, and Alabama receiver Amari Cooper just behind him with 34 votes.

So, the prospects eliminated thus far are as follows:

Round 1 - Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
Round 2 - Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami (FL)
Round 3 - Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
Round 4 - Shane Ray, DE, Missouri
Round 5 - Shaq Thompson, LB, Washington

Round Six will get underway here shortly, ladies and gentlemen. Thanks to everyone that has participated so far as we near the halfway mark.
