Minnesota Vikings Draft Survivor: Landon Collins Eliminated

New, comments
Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports

The old expression is "safety first." However, the readers of The Daily Norseman has spoken and, if they have their way, the Minnesota Vikings will not be taking a safety with their first selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Alabama safety Landon Collins, the position's lone representative in our competition, was knocked out by our readers in Round Six of the voting. We had plenty of votes cast this time around, with 2,636 making their voices heard. Collins took home 820 of those votes, or 31%.

This round also made sure that Landon Collins would be the first Collins booted off the island. . .but not by much. LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins came in second this time around, picking up 656 of the votes cast, or around 25%. Washington cornerback Marcus Peters, the selection in our Community Mock Draft, came in third with 596 votes, giving him around 23% of the haul.

The player with the lowest number of votes this time was, once again, Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper. Cooper received just 65 votes this time around, or about two percent. Joining him in the bottom three were Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes (69 votes) and Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff (74 votes).

So, our eliminations thus far look like this:

Round 1 - Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
Round 2 - Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami (FL)
Round 3 - Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
Round 4 - Shane Ray, DE, Missouri
Round 5 - Shaq Thompson, LB, Washington
Round 6 - Landon Collins, S, Alabama

The next round of voting will be hitting the site here shortly, ladies and gentlemen. Be sure to make your voice heard!
