2015 NFL Mock Draft: Detroit Lions Select Andrus Peat

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

We are up to the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, and one of our division rivals, the Detroit Lions. They're being run by DN community member "just_rob," and he's making a selection for them to help them out a spot that the Lions have, seemingly, had issues for quite a long time now.

With the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, the Detroit Lions select. . .

Andrus Peat, offensive tackle, Stanford University

Here's what just_rob had to say about why he made this selection.

I was actually going to select Erick Flowers as I thought he had more upside, but the Chargers beat me to it. I was also considering either of the two highest rated corners if either fell this far but both are gone. I would have considered trading up for either top rated corner or Flowers.

I also considered a DT to replace Suh, (a sure sexy pick for any Lions fans) but the Lions need to do a better job of keeping Stafford upright and off the turf.

My Thoughts

The Lions have had some pretty significant losses along the defensive front, with the losses of Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley, but I don't know if a reach for someone like a Malcom Brown or Jordan Phillips is advisable for the Lions the way things have fallen to this point. Peat is a very solid pick for the Lions here, I think. While the Lions seem to be happy with Riley Reiff at the left tackle spot, their right tackle position is a bit of a mess. I think that Peat would, worst case, step in there and start immediately to help the Lions in their quest to keep Matthew Stafford's uniform clean.

What do you think of this pick, folks?
