2015 NFL Mock Draft: New England Patriots Select Kevin Johnson

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Well, here we are, folks. . .the final pick of the 2015 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft. Before we get to the final selection, I'd like to thank all of the GMs that took part in this year's draft. The selections weren't always conventional or anything, but it certainly made for an interesting selection process.

The final pick in our draft belongs to the World Champions, the New England Patriots. The Pats lost a couple of big name defenders this off-season, and their GM, "raging_cloner," is using the final pick in our mock draft to help them start to rebuild the secondary a bit.

With the 32nd pick in the 2015 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, the New England Patriots select. . .

Kevin Johnson, cornerback, Wake Forest University

Here's what raging_cloner had to say about the selection.

The Patriots have a few different directions that they could go with this pick. I was originally going to select Eddie Goldman to be the replacement for Wilfork, but he was taken. I then looked at the next two directions to go. They need a cornerback to replace Revis and have a hole at WR that could be addressed with this pick. The reason I say WR is next is because not everyone can sling it to no names like Brady can, and with his age, they need a weapon for the QB of the future. I go with Johnson here because he thrives in man coverage and seems like an ideal fit in the Patriots secondary. They would be lucky to have this guy fall this far in the draft because of the talent fall after the top 5 corners. Johnson appears to be flying under the radar for a lot of people but has the tools to get it done in the NFL. If I would have went WR here, I do not think the Patriots would have been able to find a corner that would make a push to start right away. This is why I went corner here, let me know what you think.

My Thoughts

When you lose a couple of players like Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner from your secondary, it's a spot that immediately needs to be looked at. I would really be surprised to see Kevin Johnson last this long on draft night, but if he did, the Patriots would be getting a heck of a pick here. With the losses the Patriots have experienced, he would likely step right into a starting role with the defending champs. Nice work, if you can get it.

What do you think of this selection, folks?
