What started with thirteen NFL Draft prospects that could potentially become members of the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night has been whittled down to just two. In case you've missed it, here's who was eliminated and when.
Round 1 - Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
Round 2 - Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami (FL)
Round 3 - Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
Round 4 - Shane Ray, DE, Missouri
Round 5 - Shaq Thompson, LB, Washington
Round 6 - Landon Collins, S, Alabama
Round 7 - La'el Collins, OT, LSU
Round 8 - Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
Round 9 - Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
Quarterfinals - DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
Semifinals - Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
So, we have one final battle to determine who will be the winner of our Minnesota Vikings Draft Survivor competition.
In one corner, we have Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper. He won the Biletnikoff Award this past season, a distinction given to the player deemed the best wide receiver in college football. He was a first-team All-American, first-team All-SEC, and (in something I didn't know) finished third in this year's Heisman Trophy balloting.
In the other corner, we have Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff. Scherff also picked up his share of awards this past season. Like Cooper, he was a unanimous first-team All-American. He was also first-team All-Big Ten, and the Rimington-Pace Award winner for being the best offensive lineman in the B1G. He also received this year's Outland Trophy Award, which is given to the player deemed the best lineman in the country.
Both of these players would be outstanding choices for the Minnesota Vikings, in my opinion, and would both fill substantial needs in Norv Turner's offense. But now, it's up to you to determine which one wins the competition.
Just as we have done for every round so far, you are not voting for the player you want the Minnesota Vikings to draft. You are voting for the one you want removed from consideration. The player with the higher vote total this round will be eliminated, and the player with the lower vote total will be declared the last man standing and the winner of our competition.
So, with that. . .have at it, ladies and gentlemen!
