Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner in our Minnesota Vikings Draft Survivor competition, and after a very hotly-contested final round, one prospect stands alone out of the group of thirteen that we started with.
The final matchup pitted Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper against Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff. There were over 2,000 votes cast. . .2,150 to be precise. . .and when the smoke cleared, the 2014 Biletnikoff Award winner squeaked past the 2014 Outland Trophy winner. Of the 2,150 votes, Scherff received 1,126 votes, or 52.4%, while Cooper collected 1,024 votes, or 47.6%.
I'm not sure what the odds of either of these players being available when the Vikings pick at #11 is. . .frankly, if I had to bet one way or the other, I think that the chances of Scherff being there are much better than the chances of Cooper being there. But that's the way the competition shook out, and in a perfect world, Amari Cooper would be the choice of our readers at #11 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft.
One last time, here is the full list of eliminations.
Winner - Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
Thanks to everyone that participated and debated this subject. We'll probably do something similar next season. . .hopefully the drama will extend a little deeper than just the final round. And congratulations to Amari Cooper on his victory!
