2015 NFL Mock Draft: New York Jets Select Jameis Winston

Regardless of when the New York Jets generally pick in the NFL Draft, a cascade of boos rains down from the folks in attendance. However, in this scenario, that's highly unlikely to happen for two reasons. . .first of all, the draft is in Chicago this year, not at Radio City Music Hall. And second, Jets' GM "cycloneallnightlong" has given the Jets a pick that, at this point, it appears they can only dream of.

With the sixth pick of the 2015 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, the New York Jets select. . .

Jameis Winston, quarterback, Florida State University

Not a great deal of feedback from cycloneallnightlong on this pick, other than some disbelief that the board actually fell the way it has for the Jets. So, let's move on to. . .

My Thoughts

Based on physical attributes and pro potential, there's a reason that Winston is largely rumored to be a lock to go #1 overall in this year's draft. However, it's impossible to ignore the off-field issues that Winston had during his time at Florida State. It's something that he definitely needs to overcome, but if he can overcome it, then whoever ends up with him could find themselves with a pretty special player. The Jets appear to be ready to move on from the Geno Smith era, and from a football perspective, Winston being available at this point would be a real coup for the new regime.

And hey, Jameis Winston in New York? It's a media guy's dream come true, too.
