Bud Grant's Rendezvous With Twitter To Be Short-Lived

Remember a couple of weeks ago when we told everyone that legendary Minnesota Vikings' head coach Bud Grant had joined the Twitter revolution and how awesome it was?

Well, it's only going to be awesome for about 24 more hours.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the reason that Coach Grant got on the Twitter in the first place was to advertise his latest garage sale. That sale is set to take place tomorrow, 20 May, and after that. . .well, the account is shutting down.

"I opened it out of necessity," Grant told the Pioneer Press. "I was looking at the want ads in your paper, and nobody buys the paper for the want ads anymore. So I had to find a way to advertise and get out the word.

"I opened a Twitter account, and I'll close it as soon as the garage sale ends."

If you check Coach Grant's account, pretty much everything that's gone out has been about the sale, which will take place from Wednesday through Friday at 8134 Oakmere Drive in Bloomington.

Tomasson's article ended on a real downer, though.

Grant said it's too early to say whether there will be another sale next year.

"I don't know if I'll be alive next year," he said.

Because I'll tell you. . .if Coach Grant isn't at the opening of the new stadium in 2016, it just isn't going to be the same. For crying out loud, the road it's on is named after him. He has to be there.

But for now, if you were planning on following the greatest coach in Vikings' history on Twitter, it doesn't appear that you're going to have much more of an opportunity.
