Fresh off of collecting a sum greater than the Gross Domestic Product of several small countries for "fighting" fighting Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather extended an invitation to a couple of NFL rookies to go through some workouts at his personal training facility.
Minnesota Vikings' cornerback Trae Waynes and San Diego Chargers' running back Melvin Gordon ran into Mayweather in Vegas, according to TMZ Sports, and things went well enough for the two of them to get the invite for the 4th of July weekend. Mayweather even shut the place down just so the pair could be put through the paces. Mayweather himself wasn't actually there, but apparently the two of them are going to meet up with the man called "Money" for some some "mentoring and training advice" before the season starts.
Waynes and Gordon were teammates in high school, and have been friends for most of their lives. Who got the better of these workout sessions? We may have a chance to find out when the Vikings and the Chargers face off at TCF Bank Stadium in Week 3 of the 2015 NFL season.
And yes, this probably doesn't really fall under the heading of "news," but hey. . .the offseason is almost over, folks. Soon we'll have actual, honest-to-goodness football to talk about.
