Thanks to Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, we finally have the answer to the question of who the former NFL wide receiver that Cordarrelle Patterson worked out with this summer is. As it turns out, it was. . .
Nobody.
Patterson said he set out to become a more reliable target this offseason. He also changed up his offseason routine by running up sandy hills and lugging around heavy buckets of water with an unorthodox personal trainer in San Francisco.
He didn't feel it was necessary to work out with the mystery former NFL wide receiver that coach Mike Zimmer set him up with, though he said he did chat with him at the Super Bowl and that Zimmer seemed cool with that.
Well, Zimmer did say at least once this offseason that Patterson was working hard and that the team was pleased with his progress. Zimmer even went so proud as to say that he was proud of Patterson and the work he had done. With camp practices getting underway on Sunday, we will soon see whether or not all of that work has truly paid off.
Still, it would have been nice to solve the mystery of who Patterson worked out with this offseason. . .or, rather, who he was supposed to be working out with. However, just like the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. . .the world may never know.
