Three More Minnesota Vikings Get Released

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

The cutdown continues at Winter Park, as three more members of the Minnesota Vikings' roster have been notified that they're being let go.

Of the three, the biggest surprise. . .to me, anyway. . .is cornerback Josh Thomas. Thomas signed with the Vikings in late July, and played pretty well during the preseason. The Vikings were his sixth team, following his drafting by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. I had Thomas making my final 53-man roster, so it looks like it's not going to be perfect after all.

Offensive lineman Bobby Vardaro has also been notified of his release. Vardaro was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft. He played his college ball at Boston College. I'm not sure if he was ever really in the mix for a spot on the offensive line, nor am I sure if he's a candidate for the practice squad.

The third player that was informed that they were getting cut is defensive lineman Chigbo Anunoby. A product of Morehouse College, Anunoby spent the 2014 season on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad, and was signed by the Vikings this past offseason. He couldn't crack what looks to be a pretty deep defensive line rotation for the Vikings.

With these three releases, the Vikings' roster is down to 68 players, meaning that 15 more roster moves need to be made by 3:00 PM Central on Saturday. We are tracking all of the moves for you right here.
