We're nearly to the 3:00 PM Central deadline for roster moves, and for now, one of the Minnesota Vikings' "hometown guys" has not made good.
The team has informed wide receiver Isaac Fruechte of his release. Freuchte was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Vikings following the 2015 NFL Draft. He played his college ball at the University of Minnesota, and managed to make six catches for 49 yards over the course of the preseason.
Much like the case of Ryan Whalen, who was released by the Vikings earlier in the day, the depth chart at wide receiver is just too strong at this point for Fruechte to make a dent. The team is, however, apparently interested in bringing him onto the practice squad if he should clear waivers.
(Yes, he should clear waivers.)
