Linval Joseph Misses Third Consecutive Practice

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

While nearly all of the Minnesota Vikings were participating in practice on this New Year's Day, there is one large absence.

A very large one.

Defensive tackle Linval Joseph sat out of practice on Friday, making it the third consecutive practice that he has missed. That's a fairly bad sign for his availability for Sunday night's game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, as no Vikings' player this season has been active for a game after having missed practice all week.

Joseph had missed three consecutive games prior to last week's 49-17 victory over the New York Giants. He reaggravated the injury on the first drive of the contest, but returned after the injury. He played only 31 of the Vikings' 61 defensive snaps, largely owing to the score getting pretty one-sided.

Defensive end Everson Griffen and running back Adrian Peterson, both of whom sat out of Thursday's practice, are practicing today. Peterson sat out of Wednesday's practice as well, while Griffen was limited on Wednesday.

We will have the full injury reports for both the Vikings and the Packers after the teams release them later on this afternoon.
