Horns, Swords and a Longship: October 6, 2016

The best day of the week (okay, maybe second-best day) has arrived!

Hype train coming through!
Hype train coming through!

Friday y'all!

Longship Log:

Eric sets out his picks for Week 5.

Ted gave us his usual view into the mind of a sick and twisted individual.

Around the Horns:

Vikings Territory: The Vikings have put some space between themselves and their division rivals through four weeks of the NFL season. Sam Neumann says that Sam Bradford really has been the MVP so far this year. The newest episode of the Purple FTW! podcast is out.

Vikings Journal: They have their own podcast now and they took a look at the Giants game and previewed the Texans.

KFAN: The Texans should not be underestimated.

Reddit: Welcome back CP84. Apparently OBJ isn't the only one the Vikings' defense rattled last Monday. Captain Munnerlyn did a nice breakdown of a few defensive plays on the Star Trib. According to Cian Fahey, the Vikings' offense is beginning to become far more varied than it has in the last few years. Be careful of ticket scalpers who have apparently come up with a new system to sell Vikings fans fake tickets.

Vikings homepage: A scout breaks down last Monday's tape and tell us what he sees. The Vikings have a lot of respect for Texans' nose tackle Vince Wilfork. Locke's strong start to the 2016 season comes with info about Locke's shifting punting style.

Swords of the Rampaging Hordes:

Yep, the Browns definitely got screwed by the officials last Sunday.

Apparently Joe Buck likes hair plugs. A lot.

Somehow people finding cutting cords and finding their own streaming content devices is surprising to major networks.

Antonio Brown should probably get some pointers from Key and Peele about what TD celebrations are legal and which aren't.

The NFL is working on contingency plans for the Panthers and Dolphins in case their cities get smacked by Hurricane Matthew.

Is there a lack of star quarterbacks in the NFL right now?

Apparently once a Seahawk, always a Seahawk.

Here's an in-depth look at what's gone wrong with Johnny Manziel.

Minnesota Lynx update:

They begin their WNBA Title defense this upcoming Sunday. Be there or be square. Tip-off is 2 p.m.

Here's the look at a preview video made by a particular website for this Sunday's game.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the disco light is down and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your local dolphin brigade, & try the Oreo pillowcases.
