Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. . .we are now a mere twenty-four hours away from the kickoff of the first non-prime time regular season game at U.S. Bank Stadium. We will be seeing the Minnesota Vikings attempt to keep their undefeated start to the 2016 season intact as they play host to the AFC South-leading Houston Texans.
How can you follow along with all of the action from Minneapolis on Sunday afternoon? Well, we’re here to help you with all of that.
Television Info
Once again, we are back to that finest and greatest time for a National Football League kickoff, that being noon Central time on Sunday afternoon. As the visiting team in this game is an AFC opponent, this will be one of the two times this year that the Vikings will be televised by CBS. In the Twin Cities area, that’s WCCO, Channel 4. This week’s play-by-play duties will be handled by Spero Dedes and Solomon Wilcots.
If you are outside of the Twin Cities area and wondering if your market will be receiving the Vikings/Texans game, here is the coverage map courtesy of the folks from 506 Sports. Our game is represented by the green area.

If you’re outside of the regular viewing area and will be tuning in via the DirecTV Sunday Ticket package, you’ll be able to find the game om Channel 707.
The folks from Sports on Canadian TV have updated their post, and it says that the game this afternoon with be on CTV Winnipeg and CBS Minneapolis.
For fans in the United Kingdom, the folks from NFL UK are showing that the game will be shown live on Sky Sports, specifically on Sky Sports 2. Kickoff for this one is set for 6 PM United Kingdom time.
For our men and women serving overseas, this game will not be shown live on the American Forces Network. Instead, you’re going to have to catch a replay at 0700Z on Monday morning. That’s 0800L on Monday for everyone in Central Europe, 1030L on Monday for fans in Afghanistan, and 1500L on Monday for viewers in Japan and Korea.
Radio Info
For everyone that’s going to be listening on the radio, you can find an affiliate in your area that’s a part of the Vikings Radio Network. If you do not have an affiliate near you, another alternative would be to check out the TuneIn online radio service.
If you’re going the satellite radio route, you can find the feed from the Vikings Radio Network on Sirius Channel 108 or XM Channel 228. The feed from the Texans’ radio crew can be found on Sirius Channel 136 (no XM broadcast for the Texans this week). If you’re using the SiriusXM Online App, the Vikings’ permanent home there is Channel 818.
Referee Info
According to our friends over at Football Zebras, the officiating crew for this week’s contest will be led by Jeff Triplette. Triplette has been a referee since 1999, and has not worked a Vikings game since the 2014 regular season finale at TCF Bank Stadium, a game that saw the Vikings defeat the Chicago Bears by a score of 13-9.
Weather Info
Once again, this one’s going to be indoors. There shouldn’t be anything impeding travel to or from U.S. Bank Stadium, though. Temperatures at kickoff are forecast to be in the low 50s, with winds out of the southeast at 5 miles an hour. It should stay sunny all game long, too, so we’ll get that cool “Hey, this game looks like it’s being played outdoors but it’s totally not” effect we saw for the preseason game against San Diego in August.
Streaming Info
It doesn’t appear that CBS is going to be streaming this game on their website or through any other legal means. If you’re overseas, there’s always NFL Game Pass.
As far as other streams are concerned, do NOT. . .and I mean not in any way, shape, or form. . .promote illegal streaming sites on The Daily Norseman. Not in the comments, not in the FanPosts, not in the FanShots, not in the Game Thread, not anywhere. Don't even hint at them. Trust me on this. If you're that determined to watch the game via an illegal stream, do a Google search and find it on your own. And feel free to not blame us for any ill effects your computer or device might suffer as a result.
That should be all of the information you need in order to enjoy Sunday afternoon’s contest between the Minnesota Vikings and the Houston Texans from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. We’ll have the Game Thread up and ready to go approximately an hour before kickoff, and we hope to see a lot of you folks there for it.
