As we mentioned yesterday, the Minnesota Vikings are trying out kickers today at Winter Park in the wake of the latest Blair Walsh disaster in Sunday’s loss to the Lions. Though Mike Zimmer didn’t elaborate on who those kickers were in his press conference yesterday, we do have the names of the kickers that have tried out, thanks to Darren Wolfson of KSTP and David McCoy of WCCO.
The team brought in four different kickers. Here’s a brief look at each of them:
- Randy Bullock, who has kicked for the Houston Texans, New York Jets, and New York Giants. For his career, he’s an 80.6% field goal kicker (75-for-93)
- Kai Forbath, who has played for the Washington Redskins and the New Orleans Saints. He is an 84.1% kicker for his career (69-for-82).
- Zach Hocker, who is the least experienced of the group with just eight NFL games under his belt. He has played for the Saints and Rams, and has hit 10-of-14 career field goal attempts.
- Travis Coons, who has just one NFL season to his name, and was actually very good last season for the Cleveland Browns. He hit 28-of-32 field goal attempts last year, a rate of 87.5%.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Vikings actually sign any of the kickers they’ve brought in today. If they do, we will have the news here for you straight away.
