UPDATE: Here’s the interview that Peterson did with DJ Skee where he announces his return. Thanks to Dash Radio for providing it to us.
Throughout the course of this week, there were rumors that the Minnesota Vikings could have both safety Harrison Smith and running back Adrian Peterson back in the fold when they take on the Indianapolis Colts at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday.
Turns out that we were half right.
Peterson, in another interview with DJ Skee on Dash Radio, has confirmed that he will, in fact, make his return on Sunday against Indianapolis.
Peterson was just designated to return from the Injured Reserve list on Wednesday, and started practicing with the team this week. He is not currently listed on the team’s injury report (which we’ll bring to you as soon as the Colts release their final report), as the team has not formally activated him yet. They will have to make a roster move in order to add Peterson to the 53-man roster.
It’s not known yet, obviously, exactly how much action Peterson will see on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings have added Matt Asiata to the injury report with an ankle issue, and he sat out of Friday’s practice. If Asiata is unable to go, Peterson and Jerick McKinnon would be the only running backs on the Vikings’ roster. If that’s the case, the Vikings must think that #28 is ready to shoulder a significant portion of the load.
Once again, ladies and gentlemen, the Vikings will have Adrian Peterson activated and on the roster on Sunday when they face the Indianapolis Colts at U.S. Bank Stadium.
