On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings announced that head coach Mike Zimmer has resumed his head coaching duties, and that he is expected to travel with the team to Florida for this weekend’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Zimmer was forced to miss Minnesota’s 17-15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys this past Thursday night, as he required an emergency surgery on the right eye he had a procedure done on earlier in the season. He then had a second surgery on Friday, and there was some doubt as to whether or not he would be able to travel this weekend.
The Vikings reportedly had a contingency plan in place that would have involved driving Zimmer to Jacksonville if it became necessary, but from the article by Judd Zulgad of 1500 ESPN linked above, it sounds as though Zimmer will be traveling with the team, meaning that he’s apparently been cleared to fly following the procedures on his eye.
Zimmer will address the media at Winter Park at 11:00 AM Central time on Wednesday.
