Hump Daaaayyyy! It's the peak of the week.....and not much to look forward to in the world of football for a while. Since folks have been asking about what's ahead, here's a short list of key dates that are coming in the next month or so.
- Feb. 22- First day teams are permitted to use the franchise or transition player tags
- Feb 23-29- NFL Scouting Combine
- March 7- At noon ET, clubs can contact and enter into contract negotiations with agents of players who will be UFAs

Around the DN since our last open thread:
Chris told us about some filmmaker's who are looking for Vikings fans to play the "villain" role in an upcoming independent film.
Vikings news from elsewhere:
From vikings.com, Jason LaCanfora says that the coaching hires say a lot about Mike Zimmer.
"When you’re a head coach, you’re never afraid to speak your mind, so the possibility of all of them sitting in there and the personalities of the guys like Tony and Pat, they’re not afraid to speak their mind and ideas," Zimmer said. "I just think the more good coaches you can get, the better it is and the more they’ll communicate with it."
Around the rest of the NFL:
From ESPN, Cam Newton defends walking out on reporters.
As the Johnny Football World Turns........Per NFL.com, Michael Silver reported that Johnny Manziel had shown up late and drunk prior to Cleveland's week 17 game, and was later placed on the concussion protocol. Per Silver, the Browns lied about the concussion. Then, according to cleveland.com, Silver apologized for saying the Browns lied, but stands by the story that Johnny was drunk at work.
With that, we come to today's media selection. Here's a short film based on a youtube video that most of us have seen. Just in case you haven't seen this, the first video is of our old pal, Leeerroooooy Jennnkinnnnnnnns. The second clip is a short film some creative folks made based off of Leeroy Jenkins in the first clip. Enjoy.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the fleischkeukle.
