It's the peak of the week, and we're another day into free agency.
Here's the off-season schedule for the next month or so:
March 20-23: Annual league meeting, Boca Raton, Florida.
April 4: Clubs that hired a new head coach after the end of the 2015 regular season may begin offseason workout programs.
April 18: Clubs with returning head coaches may begin offseason workout programs.
April 22: Deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets.
Mid-to-late April: 2016 schedule release
April 28-30: 2016 NFL Draft, Chicago.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Despite previous rumors to the contraray, Rhett Ellison isreturning to Minnesota after all.
Chris is keeping a Vikings 2016 Free Agency Tracker.
Ted posted the DN Mailbag, Ides of March Edition.
Ted shared the story of Mike Wallace signing with the Ravens, and taking a shot at our quarterback on his way out. Don't let the doorknob hit you on the way out the door, Mike..... or let it hit you, I don't care.
Terence Newman re-signed with the Vikings. This is an excellent signing, in my opinion. Newman provides solid depth, veteran leadership, and I hope even a possible upgrade at the safety position opposite Harrison Smith.
Vikings news from elsewhere:
From PFF, Chris Collinsworth released his first mock draft, and he has Minnesota taking.......(You'll have to read it to find out. If I have to suffer, so do you).
From The Big Lead, Mike Wallace rips Teddy Bridgewater on his way out of Minnesota. Normally, I'd wish a player well, but this is a pretty classless quote from a guy who hasn't produced a 1,000 yard season since 2011.
Here's the quote:
When this process started, I knew that I wasn’t going back to Minnesota. I was like, "I need a good quarterback." I need a quarterback who I know is proven and can get things done.
Around the rest of the NFL:
NFL.com listed the top ten free agents available.
With that, we come to today's media selection. Thanks to southparkskolman for suggesting this guy, here's Todd Snider with Beer Run.
and a funny story to go with that song
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the lutefisk.
