With the majority of the free agency period now firmly in the rear view mirror, there appears to be just one more matter of business for the Minnesota Vikings to attend to before fully turning their attention to this April's draft.
That one thing is the re-signing of linebacker Chad Greenway for what would be his eleventh season in the purple and gold. Greenway has been a member of the Vikings since he was selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and is currently a free agent.
Even though all of the signs point to him returning to Minnesota for one more season. . .he reportedly wants to come back and the team reportedly wants him back. . .a deal has not been completed yet. It appears that the folks at 100.3 KFAN-FM, the Vikings' flagship radio station, have gotten a little impatient with the whole thing, and have chosen to express that by singing the song of their people.
So, ladies and gentlemen, we bring you "Please Re-Sign Greenway," a takeoff on "I Want It That Way" by The Backstreet Boys. Incidentally, if you want to feel a little old, the original song hit the airwaves 17 years ago.
Lyrics:
I'm guessing the Vikings didn't need this. . .ahem. . .push in order to make this happen. Still, I guess it can't hurt.
