Todd McShay of ESPN.com has posted his most recent mock draft behind the mighty E$PN paywall, and he has expanded his picks to two rounds this time. What does he see for the Minnesota Vikings?
Well, with the 23rd overall pick, McShay is right in tune with our Mock Draft Database, as he has the Vikings selecting Texas Christian wide receiver Josh Doctson. Here's what he has to say about the selection:
With exceptional leaping ability (41-inch vertical) and huge hands (10 inches), Doctson is the best WR in this class when the ball is in the air. And he shows the speed on tape to create late separation in contested-catch situations. Teddy Bridgewater needs another weapon on the outside after Mike Wallace was sent packing.
Doctson is the third wide receiver off of the board in McShay's mock, behind Laquon Treadwell of Ole Miss (#15 to Los Angeles) and Will Fuller of Notre Dame (#22 to Houston). He also has a wide receiver going right after Doctson, with the Cincinnati Bengals taking Corey Coleman of Baylor at #24.
With the Vikings' second selection, #54 overall, McShay has the purple taking a guy that I haven't heard a whole lot about in Florida safety Keanu Neal.
A physical run defender, Neal comes with very good mental makeup and intangibles. But he doesn't have great playmaking instincts at this point, having tallied just four picks and five pass breakups in two seasons as a full-time starter.
With no safeties coming off the board for McShay in the first round, Neal is the third safety selected in Round 2 after Karl Joseph of West Virginia and Vonn Bell of Ohio State. I need to learn more about him, personally, but if anyone else has some insight on him, hopefully they'll share it in the comments.
That's what Todd McShay has going on in his latest mock, folks. What do you think of his selections?
