We're still over a week away from the 2016 NFL Draft in Chicago, but the action at the top of the draft board is still moving fast and furious.
Less than a week after the Tennessee Titans became the first team in fifteen years to trade out of the top spot in the NFL Draft in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, the Cleveland Browns have moved out of the #2 overall spot, making a blockbuster deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Here are the particulars of the trade:
Philadelphia Eagles receive | Cleveland Browns receive |
-Cleveland's 2016 first-round pick (#2 overall) -Cleveland's 2017 fourth-round pick |
-Philadelphia's 2016 first-round pick (#8 overall)
-Philadelphia's 2016 third-round pick (#77 overall)
-Philadelphia's 2016 fourth-round pick (#100 overall)
-Philadelphia's 2017 first-round pick
-Philadelphia's 2018 second-round pick

This is the second time the Eagles have moved up in the first round of this 2016 NFL Draft. As part of the trade that sent cornerback Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Miami Dolphins, the Eagles and Dolphins swapped picks, with the Eagles moving from #13 to #8 and the Dolphins dropping down.
What does this mean for the Minnesota Vikings? Well. . .probably not a whole lot. Much like the Rams, the Eagles are no doubt moving up to draft their next quarterback. That means that more non-quarterbacks will be pushed down the board a bit. I don't know if the Eagles were as much of a threat as the Rams were to take a player at a Vikings' position of need, but with the Vikings not in the market for a quarterback, the more non-quarterbacks that get pushed down, the better.
Will we get any more craziness in the trade market in the next eight days? Are the NFL teams going to leave any trade drama for the night of the 28th in Chicago?
