Over the past few years, the National Football League has had a day where legends from the various NFL teams announce one of their team's selections on the second day of the draft. This year, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the league is getting players that had been nominated the NFL's Man of the Year to announce third-round picks, and folks are likely going to be very happy with the choice for the Minnesota Vikings.
Former Vikings' linebacker E.J. Henderson will be announcing the team's third-round choice in this year's NFL Draft. Henderson also got to announce a pick for the team last season, as he announced the team's second-round selection of linebacker Eric Kendricks.
Henderson was a second-round pick of the Vikings in the 2003 NFL Draft out of the University of Maryland. He played for the Vikings for nine seasons, with his last season coming in 2011. He suffered a severe leg injury in late 2009 against the Arizona Cardinals, but rehabbed like mad and was back on the field in time for the 2010 season opener. Henderson won the Vikings' Man of the Year award following the 2009 season.
Henderson currently works with the Vikings as their Youth Football Manager.
Hopefully the pick that Henderson announces on Friday in Chicago will work out as well for the Vikings as the last pick he announced has thus far.
