The first regular season game that the Minnesota Vikings will play at U.S. Bank Stadium will take place on Sunday night, 18 September, when they host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. Now, you and your friends can have an opportunity to take to the (newly installed) turf before Teddy Bridgewater and company do.
There's a little bit of work involved on your behalf, but the opportunity is there.
The Vikings, in conjunction with UnitedHealth Group, are hosting a flag football tournament at U.S. Bank Stadium on 10 September, the day before the 2016 NFL regular season opener.
You can sign up to have a team for free. . .if you commit to raising at least $3,500 in donations. That means that, if you have a team with the maximum number of 14 players, it comes out to about $250/person. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the Minnesota Chapter of the Chron's and Colitis Foundation of America.
You can also join the "free agent" team for a cost of $350. So, if you just want to get out and play some flag football but don't have a team, you can still get in on the action.
Here's are some of the details about the tournament:
- 7 x 7 Flag football tournament
- 8 - 14 Players per team
- Guaranteed 3 games - games will be played in 25 minute timeslots
- Recreational and competitive divisions
- Tournament officiated by professional level referees
- Prizes awarded to 1st place team, top fundraising team, and top fundraising individual
- Participant t-shirt and game day lunch will be provided

People that just want to spectate can also purchase tickets to do so. They are $25, and can be purchased either at the door or online.
So, if you want to get out and play some flag football at the new home of the Minnesota Vikings, and raise some money for a good cause, you now have your opportunity to do so. And hey, if you're thinking about getting a team together for this, let us know and we'll do what we can to help you fundraise for your squad.
