The peak of the week has arrived, it's all downhill from here.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Hump Daaayyyyyyy! We've made it half-way through another week, and the weekend is within view.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared the story that according to Bill Barnwell at ESPN, the Vikings had a great off-season.

You can meet Troy Stoudermire at Color Dash 5K this Saturday, per Chris.

Eric shared a story that is sure to draw a chuckle.......or something. ESPN was being ESPN, and said on their Facebook page that the Green Bay Packers are defending NFC North champs.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com:

Some of the Vikings participated in the Governor's fishing opener.

Harrison Smith joins Big Brothers Big Sisters for the Saints game.

Everson Griffen is working on some new moves for U.S. Bank Stadium.

Teddy Bridgewater was impressed by his first look at Laquon Treadwell.

Around the NFL:

Zach Mettenberger didn't stay unemployed for long, the Chargers claimed him off waivers, per NFL.com.

From NFL.com, Eric Decker says that Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the Jets QB.

Mark Sanchez tore ligaments in his non-throwing hand, per Yahoo Sports. No word on how long he expects to be out, but that certainly doesn't help Denver's QB situation.

Twins update:

After a nice outing by Hughes, the Twins bullpen showed off their stuff. Tonkin surrendered three, and not wanting to be outdone, May also surrendered three, and the Twins fell to the Tigers, 2-7.

With that, we come to today's media selection. I didn't think I'd remember, but I did. What a treat for you!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese.
