Anthony Barr Launching New Foundation

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

We know how awesome Minnesota Vikings' linebacker Anthony Barr is on the field. Now he's showing that he wants to be just as awesome off of it.

On 4 June, Barr will officially launch the Anthony Barr Foundation, which will provide financial support to single mothers that are wanting to continue their education. The cause is one that's close to Barr's heart, as his mother Lori raised him as a single mother while working two jobs and taking night classes.

"She [sacrificed so much]," said Barr, who was a guest on SportsCenter Tuesday. "She wasn't home as much as I would have liked to her be, but I knew that was for a greater cause. She was doing it for me. She put me in a position to be successful, and I owe her so much. This is one thing I can do to kind of give back, not only to her but to all single mothers."

Barr will serve as both President and CEO of the Foundation, while Lori will serve as its Vice President.

The goal of the foundation will be to provide ten single mothers with a $10,000 scholarship to college to continue their studies in an effort to improve life for themselves and their families.

Congratulations to Anthony Barr on the upcoming launch of his foundation. Here's hoping that he exceeds all the goals that he's set for it and can improve even more lives than he's already planning on helping.
