Happy Monday, everyone! The weekend is finally over, and Monday is here. There's not a whole lot of football news, so we'll trudge through this boring off-season and scrape up what we can.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
ESPN has gotten back to normal. They scared us for a bit with some positive takes on the Vikings, but they're back to normal with this latest piece, shared by Chris. They have Teddy ranked as the number 33 quarterback in the NFL. Yep, you read that right.
Chris wonders how you're betting when it comes to the over/under on Vikings wins.
Former Vikings owner, Wheelock Whitney, passed away at the age of 89.
Chris wants to knowif you own an embarrassing Vikings jersey. I don't, but I do own a Christian Ponder t-shirt, with the name and number on the back.
Chris searched Etsy for Vikings stuff.
Teddy Bridgewater got a birthday invite.
Vikings news from elsewhere:
Here's a cool article, thanks to Rachel for sending this to us. The Vikings' uniforms are ranked 4th out of the 32 NFL teams. This is a good one to discuss.
From Vikings.com:
The Mike Zimmer foundation awarded a $10,000 academic scholarship.
The reconfigured tailgating zone took a step forward.
From the Strib, ex-Vikings QB Randall Cunningham is now Pastor Cunningham.
Around the NFL:
From NFL.com, Aaron Rodgers responded to some dumb fan criticism.
There's not a lot out there, folks. If I missed something, let me know & I'll put it up here.
Twins update (if you really want to know):
The Twins got clobbered by the Blue Jays on Friday, 9-3. The Twins had a nice eighth inning comeback on Saturday, and Jepsen actually didn't blow a save (although he did give up a run), and the Twins won 5-3. Yesterday wasn't really good for the offense. Hughes, after a rocky 1st inning, settled down & had a nice outing, but the Twins managed only 3 hits & 1 run, and lost 3-1.
The Braves are back on top on my garage freezer.
With that, we come to today's media selection. Here's one of my favorite phone prank callers, Mr. Willie P. Richardson.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
