You like-a the list-a-mania? You gotta the list-a-mania!
No, seriously, you're going to like this list. Steven Ruiz of USA Today in their FTW! column ranked the 32 NFL coaches from best to worst.
And well, well, well. . .lookie who he has at #4 overall.
4. Mike Zimmer, Vikings
Zimmer is the most creative defensive play-caller in the league. And more importantly, he knows how to develop young talent. Case in point: It took him only two years to turn Anthony Barr, who was seen as a raw prospect who would take some time to develop, into an All-pro caliber player. The Vikings defense is going to be very good for a very long time.
It took Mike Zimmer a long time to finally get a shot as a head coach in the National Football League for whatever the reasons were. Sometimes, the best things come to those who wait. After all. . .rushing in 2006 got the Vikings Brad Childress. Exercising patience in 2014 got them Zimmer.
The three coaches that are ranked ahead of Zimmer on Ruiz's list? Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians appears at #3, Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks is at #2, and Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots is at the top of the list.
Belichick, Carroll, and Arians. . .that's some pretty heady company right there. Fortunately for us, Zimmer has shown thus far that he absolutely deserves to be mentioned in that mix.
