Merry Tuesday, everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I did. I'm going to re-post the news & links from yesterday, since I see there was very little traffic.
Kiddo got his first kayak ride on Sunday, he loved it.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
More Than Words 2016 kicks off Wednesday, Chris has all the details. This is for a great cause, and if you're in a position where you can join in and donate, please consider doing so.Lenny Wilf to fund a unique veteran event.
3M has been named the Vikings' official science partner. I wonder if the Vikes will get a discount on sticky notes.
Chris reads into the Vikings' first OTA session.
The Vikings offensive line received praise? It's really laughable, so give it a look. If I ever lose my day job, I should be able to get a job on the NFL Network.
Chris wrote a piece for Memorial Day 2016.
The Vikings won't travel far in 2016.
Vikings news from other sources:
From Vikings.com:
Alex Boone has been a teacher for the Vikings.
Rick Spielman's tenure with the Vikings has reached 10 years.
Wobby assesses wide receivers in his Monday Morning Mailbag.
Lenny Wilf is funding a unique event for veterans and their families.
The new tailgate zone passes the Minneapolis City Council, and the Vikings are finalizing game day plans. I'm really glad they are getting this done, I was concerned that they wouldn't.
Around the NFL:
Trouble in paradise? From Cheesehead TV, some are speculating that it's a make or break year for McCarthy in Green Bay. Thanks to david knigge for sending me this.
Poor A-a-ron, Aaron Rodgers doesn't like that players are mic'd up during games, per NFL.com. Kid Rock is wondering if Rodgers received a wah-burger to go along with his french cries.
From ESPN, the Broncos are having a wide open, three way QB competition.
Peyton Manning says he 'was pretty close' to signing with the Titans in 2012, per NFL.com. I'm guessing he's happy he made the decision he made.
Twins update:
The Twins, determined not to win the race to the bottom, won 3 in a row. They beat the Mariners on Friday, again on Saturday, and once more on Sunday. I'm not sure what's going on. Mauer found his power, and many other odd things occurred.
Well, that didn't last long. Another pretty good outing for Santana was wasted yesterday, as the Twins couldn't score enough to overcome the 3 runs the A's scored. The Twins fell to the A's, 2-3. The batters are still striking out at an alarming rate, which is acceptable if you're generating power and runs with aggressive batting......but they just aren't.
With that, we come to today's media selection. It's been fun looking back on some of our great players, how about looking back at a great game from the last season where we really dominated. This is a highlight/recap of our week 14 game against the Bengals. Man, our defense had some solid tacklers that year, I see a lot of nice stops that could have gone for big plays (also, Winfield drops an easy one and does some push ups). Also, even though I hear he's unable to catch, AD had some nice looking receptions.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver and onions.
