Wednesday Open Thread: June 1, 2016

It's the peak of the week, half-way to another glorious weekend.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Hump Daaaayyyyyyy! Merry Wednesday, everyone. June is here We continue to trudge through the long, boring NFL off-season. We'll get there eventually.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Arif posted Norse Code 134: Enemy Territory with Justis Mosqueda

The Vikings signed DT Bruce Gaston and placed B.J. Dubose on injured reserve.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com:

Lindsey Young has a little piece on the More Than Words campaign that we're a part of.

Eric Smith has 3 observations from the Vikings' 4th OTA practice.

Adam Thielen is relying on patience at Vikings practices.

Here are some highlights from OTA number four.

From the Strib, Brian Robison puts his evolving role in the defense ahead of sack totals.

There's some Vikings speculation in ESPN's 100 NFL predictions. Ben Goessling thinks Treadwell should hit the ground running......I agree. He also thinks Harrison Smith will get paid by the start of the season. Again, I agree.

Around the NFL:

Walter Thurmond has decided to retire from the NFL after playing six seasons, per NFL.com.

Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall have returned to practice for the Jets, per ESPN. Speculation is that they were skipping as a show of solidarity with Ryan Fitzpatrick, who hasn't been re-signed by the team yet.

Twins update:

Tyler Duffey was roughed up a bit, and the Twins fell to the A's, 4-7. Thanks to ChCHOF for the correction, I thought they were off yesterday.

With that, we come to today's media selection. Here's another great game from 2009. This is the week 10 game against the Lions. Man, sometimes I almost forget how much fun it was to watch them play that year.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver and onions.
