A new week, kick it off here at the open thread.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Merry Monday everyone! Sorry this is a little late, but I had some things I had to get done this morning.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Take a look at the first shot of U.S. Bank Stadium from Madden '17.

Chris posted his most irreplaceable player poll, this time for the defensive side of the ball.

There's also a poll for the U.S. Bank Stadium Unofficial Nickname.

SI.com features U.S. Bank Stadium.

Bucky Brooks pojects big things for Laquon Treadwell.

The Vikings have mandatory mini-camp this week.

Teddy Bridgewater and Jarvis Landry exchanged some friendly Twitter jabs about playing Madden.

Chris takes a look at Harrison Smith's contract extension.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com:

Here's a video of the best of Winter Park: OTAs 7-10.

Wobby opened the Monday Morning Mailbag, where he wonders if Cordarrelle Patterson's stock is on the rise.

There's a bit of news lately about Jayron Kearse, and here's another story about him.

Martial arts experience helps Andrew Sendejo focus on the field. I know there will be jokes about this in the comments.

At the Strib, Sid Hartman believes the Vikings' hopes clearly rest with Bridgewater.

Around the rest of the league:

From NFL.com, Kirk Cousins says he hasn't plateaued as a quarterback. Not uncoincidentally, he's still in contract negotiations.

The Broncos received their Super Bowl rings (ringz), per NFL.com.

Also at NFL.com, throw Jeff Driskel (I know, I had to look him up, too) into the QB competition in San Francisco.

From Yahoo Sports, CBS has parted ways with former official Mike Carey. Thank God.

Twins update:

Duffey got rocked by the Red Sox on Friday, and the offense did little, final score was 1-8. Saturday was even worse, as Gibson was hit hard, as was Chargois (who has an impressive 67.50 ERA now), andthe Twins lost 4-15. On Sunday, Dean looked good (besides struggling a bit with control), and the bats woke up (no word on whether there was any intervention from Jobu), and rookie Max Kepler won it in the 10th with a walk-off home run, final score was 7-4, Twins over the Red Sox. Hey, like Meatloaf said, one out of three ain't bad. Oh wait, that's not what they said. Well, close enough.

With that, we come to today's media selection. Here's a cool highlight reel of Stefon Diggs' rookie season. Ignore the "music", it's horrible. Also, I think there's some NSFW language in there, I'm not sure, I don't understand most of the words.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver & oninons.
