Merry Thirsty Thorsday, everyone! The weekend's so close, you can smell it. This is going to be a brief thread, as work is being demanding this morning, but I'll update it as I get time later this morning.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Are we seeing the end of the Norv Turner offense?
Here is the 'More Than Words 2016:Mike Zimmer Foundation' link.
There is no punter competition planned (for now). I don't understand why we aren't bringing in competition, but they don't pay me to think.
The Pro Bowl is changing, and nobody cares.
Vikings news from elsewhere:
From Vikings.com:
Norv Turner talks about the O-line changes and additions.
Here is a transcript from when coordinators addressed the media yesterday.
Marcus Sherels had a big day in the secondary at OTAs yesterday.
Captain Munnerlyn is ready to face a challenge from Mackensie Alexander, per the Strib.
Goessling at ESPN wonders if Cordarrelle Patterson can do more than return kicks.
Around the NFL (and beyond):
There is some exciting football on Saturday in Europe, Tor66 has all the details.
This hasn't gotten nearly as much attention as the Sam Bradford situation, but Nick Foles has not participated in team workouts, either. You'll remember that the Rams also traded up to get a QB in the draft.
Contrary to yesterday's rumors, Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall say that they weren't sitting out as a protest to Ryan Fitzpatrick not being signed, although they do want to see Fitz back with the team.
Twins update:
After a little scare over the weekend, the Twins are settling back into another losing streak. The offense racked up 10 strikeouts and only one run as the Twins fell to the As, 1-5.
With that, we come to today's media selection. Let's do another one of these, shall we? Here's week 3 of 2009 against San Francisco. This game is when you really felt the magic start that year. The team sputtered a bit, but that ending really lit a fire.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver and onions.
