Welcome to your brief peak-of-the-week open thread.

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Hump Daaaayyyyyy! Howdy everyone, sorry this is late, but it's early here.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Could we see Coach Greenway in the near future?

Should Adrian Peterson get pre-season carries? This should be interesting.

Coach Zimmer is doing an autograph session for the More Than Words Campaign.

Voting opened for classic Vikings games on YouTube.

Vikings news from other sources: reported that the mental aspect of the game could cause Adrian Peterson to retire before his physical skills force him to retire.

The Eagan city council approved the Vikings team headquarters and practice facility.

Minnesota artists have begun mural workon U.S. Bank Stadium.

Matt Williamson (not Troy) ranksthe Vikings' defense as the second best in the NFL.

Around the rest of the NFL:

Matthew Stafford thinks that the Lions offense could be harder to stop without Calvin Johnson. Keep telling yourself that, Matt.

Twins update:

In a shootout, the Twins beat the Phillies, 14-10. Dozier continues to be red hot at the plate, and Suzuki had a huge night at the plate with 6 RBIs.

With that, we come to today's media selection. Because I'm too lazy to think of anything, and because I want a good laugh, here's my favorite drunk guy.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese.
