Yesterday, we let you know the finalized version of the Minnesota Vikings' 2016 preseason schedule. Today, the Vikings have officially made a couple of announcements about Training Camp for this summer in Mankato.
The team will officially report to camp on Thursday, 28 July, with the first practice taking place on Friday, 29 July on the campus of Minnesota State University-Mankato. Per NFL rules, that's the earliest the team can start Training Camp, as it is 15 days before their preseason opener. They will face the Cincinnati Bengals in that game on Friday night, 12 August at Paul Brown Stadium.
The team has also announced that their annual Training Camp scrimmage will take place on Saturday, 6 August at Blakeslee Stadium. That will be followed by a team introduction and a fireworks display.
This will be the 51st consecutive year that the Vikings have held Training Camp in Mankato. They started holding their Training Camp there in 1966, having held their Training Camp at Bemidji State University from 1961 to 1965.
We expect to hear more about Vikings' Training Camp, including when autograph sessions are going to be held and when the times for practices are going to be, in the near future. For now, though, we know when camp is officially going to be getting underway as well as when the big scrimmage is going to take place. Hopefully some of you can start planning your sojourns to Mankato based on some of that information.
