NFL Twitter Account Hacked, Reports Roger Goodell's Death

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Despite what the National Football League's official Twitter account reported earlier today, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is most assuredly not.

Goodell Twitter Hack

Sufficient to say, this caused a bit of a stir on social media. . .for approximately five minutes, when it was revealed by numerous reporters that the NFL's account had been hacked and that Goodell was in his office working.

This is the second time this week that Twitter was hacked used to report that someone famous had passed away. On Sunday, the official Twitter account for the band Tenacious D was hacked and reported the death of actor/singer Jack Black. As it turned out, it was not the greatest hoax in the world. . .it was just a tribute. Black, like Goodell, is still alive and well.

A couple of the other SB Nation sites have posed this question in light of this, so we'll do the same.

If you somehow managed to get control of the NFL's official Twitter account, what message would you put out to the world?

Let's face it. . .a death hoax is a pretty terrible thing to do. Surely some of you folks can do better than that.
