Horns, Swords and a Longship: July 15, 2016

It's Friday everybody, let's enjoy ourselves!

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

Keep the people of Nice, France in your prayers (for those who do that), they certainly need them today and for the forseeable future.

Longship Log:

Ted and Eric finished their series on the top 30 Vikings currently on the roster.

Gone Fishin, Kodiakviking and ABG are running the Epic DN Fan Photo Contest. Head here to find out more.

For all you football rubes interested, Arif has his 2016 Vikings training camp guide on sale for $25.

Chris continued the Vikings schedule preview series with the second of the Vikings' rivals they will play in 2016, the Chicago Bears.

Around the Horns:

1500ESPN.com: The Vikings have cracked the top 40 in most valuable sports franchises in the world, tops in the NFC North. Sharrif Floyd is urging his fellow athletes to speak up on social issues. More food vendors have been announced for U.S. Bank Stadium. The Purple Podcast has its 140th episode and the Case in Point podcast has its sixth episode out on the airwaves.

Vikings Journal: Joe Oberle profiles the Detroit Lions. There are a lot of bad reasons to doubt Teddy Bridgewater. Purple PTSD has its "Far-too-early" Top-10 NFL power rankings. Matt Fries took a look at pressure and the sack rates of QB's around the league.

Jared Allen gives an inside look into the 2010 trip he and a few others took down to Mississippi to try and bring Brett Favre back to the Vikings for another season.

Today's Pigskin has their first 2017 mock draft!

The NFL Network has the top-3 Vikings trick plays of this century.

Swords from the Opposing Horde:

News on a potential deal for Von Miller has begun to leak. In related franchise tag news, kicker Justin Tucker is getting frustrated with the Ravens in his negotiations with them to sign a long-term deal.

Not a single NFL team participated in the 2016 Supplemental Draft. The Bears, however, did sign one of the participants immediately after it ended.

The Saints are currently the team in the lead for FA WR Anquan Boldin.

CBS Sports questions whether Raiders fans should be concerned with Derek Carr's late-season slump.

Bills rookie Jonathan Williams has been arrested for DUI. In other crime in the NFL news, Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor is expected not to be charged for sexual assault. Oh, and apparently Jaguars running back Denard Robinson has been cited for careless driving. Finally, the battery charges against Dan Skuta have been dropped.

Minnesota Twins update:

They return from their All-Star Break against the Cleveland Indians in Minnesota. Game time is 7:10 CT, so hopefully the second half of the year can go better than the first half for our friends in blue and red.

Here's a look at some trivia from the classic movie Ghostbusters. Warning, there is a slight bit of language so I will label this NSFW.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the disco light is down and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your local dolphin brigade, & try the toasted chimichangas!
