Anthony Barr Most Underrated Viking, According To Pete Prisco

NFL: New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

Since Pete Prisco of CBS Sports put together a list of the most overrated players on each NFL roster (which we looked at right here), it would stand to reason that he would put together a “Most Underrated” list as well. When it comes to his selection for the Minnesota Vikings on this particular list, Prisco has chosen someone that might be underrated outside of Minnesota, but likely isn’t going to be that way for much longer.

For the Vikings, Prisco selected linebacker Anthony Barr as the most underrated player on the roster. Here’s what he had to say about the pick.

Barr, the team's first-round pick in 2014, has developed into one of the best outside linebackers in the league. He is long and can run and has instincts needed for the position. His interception of Peyton Manning against Denver last season shows his ability to play in coverage. I also think if he rushed more his sack numbers would go up after getting 3.5 last season.

Fans like us that have watched the Vikings for the past two seasons know just how good Barr has been at just about everything the Vikings have asked him to do. When the Vikings selected him, they knew he was an outstanding athlete, but I think he’s surprised everybody with just how quickly his all-around skill set has developed.

The Minnesota defense is full of players that probably don’t get the love they should outside of the Vikings’ fan base, and Barr is one example as it stands now. However, if Barr can keep ascending at the rate we’ve seen over these past two seasons. . .and he can stay healthy and on the field. . .he’s going to lead an exodus of Vikings defenders from the “underrated” list to the “superstar” list.

What do you think of Pete Prisco’s selection of Anthony Barr as the Vikings’ most underrated player?
