We're a day away from training camp and actual football news. It's been a long wait.

Happy Thirsty Thorsday, everyone! Well, I had a great time in the cities. The Braves, behind the bat of Freddie Freeman, held off a comeback attempt by the Twins and swept the two-game series with a 9- B7 win over the Twins. Freeman went 4-4 with 2 singles, a double, and a monster blast to straight away center. He also stole a base. He had a chance to hit for the cycle in the 8th, but the Twins chickened out and decided to walk him. Target Field is a beautiful stadium, and both games were attended well. It was a really good time.

I'm posting this early because it's very possible I'll forget in the morning, so you night owls can get your shot to educate us. Best of luck to ya'.

Our seats last night (many thanks to freezeface for the hookup on the tickets and to supavike for coming and saying hi).

Around the DN since our last open thread:

The Vikings signed two players, and the roster is now at 89, per Chris.

Chris posted his latest installment of Vikings 2016 schedule previews with a look at the Jaguars.

Kevin Williams is going to sign a short contract, and retire a Viking. I'm glad to see this, I always liked Kevin a lot. He was a great player and a good person. All the best to him as he moves on to his life after football.

Chris shared a report that the Vikings are considering a punter competition (thank God).

Chris started a storystream for the 2016 Vikings training camp.

Vikings news from other sources and news around the rest of the league:

The Vikings have chosen an architect and contractor for the team facility in Eagan, per NFL.com.

The Jets have come to terms on a one-year deal with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, per NFL.com. Did you know Fitzpatrick went to Harvard?

NFL.com posted their latest injury roundup.

We come to today's media selection. These guys played at the Twins game last night, it was........different. I actually enjoyed it.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the pickled pigs feet.
