Don't You Do It, Sharrif

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

With a little more than three weeks before Training Camp gets underway for the Minnesota Vikings, a lot of their players are in the same boat that we're in. . .looking for things to do and/or talk about.

Vikings' defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd appears to be no different. He was looking for some sort of activity to occupy his time on this holiday weekend, and decided to ask his 43,000+ Twitter followers for some assistance. However, his first suggested course of action may have triggered some flashbacks for long-time Vikings fans.

Vikings? Boat? Lake Minnetonka? Yeah. . .we've heard that before.

It ended badly.

To be perfectly clear, I don't think that Floyd renting a boat on Lake Minnetonka would have the same results as we say that fateful day in October of 2005. I mean, I don't think he's going to be asking Fred Smoot and/or Bryant McKinnie for help in planning his trip or anything. Still, it's a little difficult not to make the connection. If anything, it's another reason to be thankful that, with Mike Zimmer in charge of things, there's just about no chance that we see a repeat of anything like that any time soon.

Thankfully, in a few week, Floyd and his Vikings teammates won't have any issues with keeping themselves occupied, because they'll be taking the field in Mankato.
