Horns, Swords and a Longship: August 12, 2016

We have finally made it: FOOTBALL. IS. BACK.

Hopefully our defensive linemen have more success against the Bengals!

Longship Log:

Eric joined up with a Cincy Jungle writer to discuss the upcoming preseason game between the Vikings and the Bengals.

Chris cross-posted a podcast from Cincy Jungle talking about today's matchup.

Chris provided the coverage info for those who are able to watch on TV/listen on the radio.

Around the Horns:

Mike Zimmer got wired up at the first joint practice between the Vikes and Bengals.

A Redditor was kind enough to gather a number of interviews from the recent practices.

Vikings Territory has their Question of the Week.

Bo Mitchell asks what the next step is for Vikings corner Xavier Rhodes. Judd has three things to look for in today's preseason opener.

NFL News:

In what can only be described as karma immediately striking, 2nd-round choice of the Bucs, kicker Roberto Aguayo missed his first extra-point attempt of the preseason.

Apparently yesterday is a day that IK Enemkpali likes to mark with punching people.

The Titans raised $20K for charity.

Apparently long snapping for the Packers is a dangerous thing.

Minnesota Twins update:

In what can only be described as a complete disappointment, the Twins lost both games of their doubleheader yesterday. They dropped the first game 15-7 and fell in the second game 10-2. They return to action today against the Kansas City Royals. Kyle Gibson will be facing Yordano Ventura in a game that starts at 7:10.

And for our video today, in honor of the game played just four days from now two years from now, the highlight reel that started The Legend of Teddy(TM).

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the disco light is down and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your local dolphin brigade, & try the inflated football laces.

For anyone interested, here's the Twitter feed. Not sure how much use it'll be any more, but you never know!
