Vikings’ Time In Mankato Ends With Fight

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Today, the Minnesota Vikings had their final practice of this year’s Training Camp in Mankato. They’ll be practicing against their opponents in Friday’s preseason opener, the Cincinnati Bengals, on Wednesday and Thursday.

That might be for the best, because if the way things ended on Tuesday is any indication, at least one Viking is tired of hitting his teammates and needs to hit someone else.

According to Ben Goessling of ESPN.com, the Vikings wound up calling practice about 50 minutes early on Tuesday morning after right guard Brandon Fusco got into a fight with an unnamed (to this point) defensive player.

"There are always a lot more things you want to do, but I think we hit all the situations that we need to hit," Zimmer said. "It’s nice having a veteran team. Even though we’re still young, I think it’s nice having a veteran team that can kind of have some recall as we continue to go forward.

(According to this link that Jotunheim left in the comments, the fight was between Fusco and Linval Joseph. Seriously, who the hell would want to pick a fight with that guy?)

The Vikings will leave for Cincinnati this afternoon, and will have practices with the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. According to the Bengals’ team website, Wednesday’s practice is scheduled for 2:00 PM Central time, while Thursday’s practice is slated for 10:00 AM Central time. Friday night’s preseason opener will take place at 6:30 PM Central time.
