Horns, Swords and a Longship: Packers Round 1 Edition

It's the Friday before Packers Sunday boys and girls. How will you be thumbing your nose towards our neighbors to the East this weekend?

This is what an NFL touchdown is like Eric, enjoy it!

Anybody else feeling hype?

Longship Log:

I wrote an article on Blair Walsh and why he's better than people criticizing him think he is.

Eric went on a podcast that could only think of a pun for its name. Oh, and the newest episode of Norse Code is out.

The Vikings and Packers got their superlatives in a recent Fallon show.

Eric has officially informed us that he would like to be referred to solely as Kenny from now on. Oh and I guess he did a preview/picks for this week's games.

Skol Girl has some helpful information for people looking to access the stadium in its first test on Sunday.

Around the Horns:

/u/BrownianNotion took a look at what Charles Johnson brought to the table as a receiver last Sunday.

Stefon Diggs is the Vikings' top offensive weapon. Anthony Barr's doing work in the community. Sam Bradford was once again taking first-team snaps in the media-open portion of today's practice. Judd Zulgad seems pretty sure that Bradford will be the starter on Sunday.

Austin Belisle gauges confidence in Blair Walsh. Adam Patrick weighs the pros and cons of the choice of starting quarterback on Sunday.

Adam Houck takes a look at the All-22 tape to see what he can learn before the Packers game.

NBC's got a pretty killer hype video for the Vikings/Packers game on Sunday night.

The Minnesota Vikings are now worth $2.2 billion as a franchise.

One of the members of the Vikings World Order was recently arrested in a massive drug bust.

Swords from the Opposing Hordes:

Hue Jackson was apparently very focused on making RG3 work as his quarterback.

Apparently Russell Wilson doesn't understand how the human body heals itself.

Before last night's game, Joe Namath and Joe Kelly took some time to trash talk each other.

Case Keenum was seeing ghosts in Monday's late game. Probably visions of the Greatest Show on Turf coming back to haunt those offensively-challenged buggers.

Giants fullback Nikita Whitlock has been suspended for 10 games in violation of the performance enhancing substances policy.

Minnesota Twins update:

They seem to be putting in a last-ditch effort to not lose 100 games, as they defeated the Tigers 5-1 in Detroit. Hector Santiago received the win, Mike Pelfrey (yeah, that Mike Pelfrey) took the loss, and Brian Dozier extended his hitting streak to 19 games. The Twins continue their road trip this evening as they take on the current owners of the NL's second wild card, the New York Mets. First pitch is at 6:10 Central.

And I found this particularly enjoyable video on the Vikings subreddit and thought it would be worth a share. And no, it's not what it looks like. Well, kinda.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the disco light is down and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your local dolphin brigade, & try the car-flattened jellybeans! Skol on.
