We’re just 24 hours away from the big-time debut of the best stadium in the National Football League, U.S. Bank Stadium. On Sunday Night Football on NBC, the Minnesota Vikings will play host to the Green Bay Packers in an NFC North matchup that could set the tone for the rest of the regular season.
If you want to know how you can follow along with all of the action from U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday night, we’re going to give you all of that information right here.
Television Info
Since this is a prime-time game, the kickoff is going to be much later than normal. . .and much later than some of us would like. Yes, kickoff for this one will go off at approximately 7:30 PM Central time, and all of the coverage will be handled by NBC, which is KARE-11 in the Twin Cities area. For everyone else. . .well, you don’t need a coverage map for this week. Just turn on your local NBC affiliate and you’ll have the game on your screen.
Your announcers for this one will be Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth, so if you don’t know what the point spread is, don’t worry. . .Michaels will find a way to work it into the broadcast, likely within the first ten minutes.
The folks over at Sports on Canadian TV inform us that the game will be available north of the border on NBC, TSN, and RDS. I know what two of those things are. . .if you’re Canadian, I trust you know all three.
For our friends in the United Kingdom, you’ll be able to watch this one on Sky Sports 2. Kickoff is set for 1:30 AM on Monday morning. (Thanks to NFL UK.)
For our men and women serving overseas, this game will be aired live on the American Forces Network. The game will be shown on AFN Sports with coverage starting at 0100Z. That means 0200L for everyone in Central Europe, 0430L for folks in Afghanistan, and if you’re in Japan or Korea, you can have breakfast with the NFL thanks to the 0900L start time.
Radio Info
For everyone that’s going to be listening on the radio, you can find an affiliate in your area that’s a part of the Vikings Radio Network. If you do not have an affiliate near you, another alternative would be to check out the TuneIn online radio service.
If you’re going the satellite radio route, you can find the feed from the Vikings Radio Network on Sirius Channel 81 or XM Channel 225. The feed from the Packers radio crew can be found on Sirius Channel 83 or XM Channel 226. There’s also a national feed from Westwood One that you can hear on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Channel 88. If you’re using the SiriusXM Online App, the Vikings’ permanent home there is Channel 818.
Referee Info
According to the folks over at Football Zebras, the officiating crew for this week’s contest will be led by Walt Anderson. He has not worked a Vikings’ game since Week 3 of the 2014 season in New Orleans.
Weather Info
Game’s indoors. Although we couldn’t tell in the preseason game against the Chargers, U.S. Bank Stadium does, in fact, have a roof on it. So, no real weather factor here.
Streaming Info
Since this is a nationally featured game on NBC, there will be a live stream featured on NBC Sports Live. For folks that live overseas, there’s the old reliable, NFL Game Pass.
As far as other streams are concerned, do NOT. . .and I mean not in any way, shape, or form. . .promote illegal streaming sites on The Daily Norseman. Not in the comments, not in the FanPosts, not in the FanShots, not in the Game Thread, not anywhere. Don't even hint at them. Trust me on this. If you're that determined to watch the game via an illegal stream, do a Google search and find it on your own. And feel free to not blame us for any ill effects your computer or device might suffer as a result.
That should be all of the information you need in order to enjoy Sunday night’s contest between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. We’ll have the Game Thread up and ready to go approximately an hour before kickoff, and we hope to see a lot of you folks there for it.
