Welcome to your first day of fall open thread!

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Merry Thirsty Thorsday, everyone! It's the first official day of fall, which makes me sad because I love summer, but it also makes me happy, because it means pheasant season is just around the corner. I can't wait.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Yours truly told you why you should sit back & enjoy the ride this season, dammit.

Ted looks at life after Adrian Peterson.

Eric let us know that the Vikings signed RB Ronnie Hillman.

The Vikings placed Matt Kalil on injured reserve.

Adrian Peterson is to have surgery on a torn meniscus, per Chris.

Stefon Diggs was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The Man From P.U.R.P.L.E. described Monday morning in England. Funny stuff.

Chris looks at if the Vikings' offense will change without Adrian Peterson.

Vikings news from other sources:

USA Today says that Peterson is targeting a playoff return after his surgery. I like that, because I think the playoffs are all but guaranteed.

From Vikings.com:

Next man up, T.J. Clemmings is stepping up to play left tackle.

The Vikings have confidence in McKinnon and Asiata.

Our new running back is ready to learn the offense.

Coach Zimmer addressed the media yesterday.

Sam Bradford also addressed the media.

Listen to Brazilian announcers call the touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs on Sunday.

Around the NFL:

The Browns' Corey Coleman broke his hand in practice, per NFL.com.

From NFL.com, the league says the status of Josh Gordon is unaffected by the warrant that was put out on him.

From ESPN, Josh Gordon took a DNA test, and the warrant for his arrest was withdrawn.

Mike McCarthy's confidence in Aaron Rodgers (A-A-Ron) is unwavering despite the slow start, per ESPN.

Yahoo Sports looks at why Carson Wentz is way ahead of the curve.

Twins update:

Well, the Twins avoided a loss last night, they got rained out. Man, on TV, it looked like it was raining hard.

We come to today's media selection. Since Rodgers was in the news, this seems appropriate.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese.
