We’ve finally gotten all of the cuts for the Minnesota Vikings as they reduced their roster down to the NFL-mandated limit of 53 players, and one of the last players cut is a member of the linebacking corps.
Per the Vikings’ team website, the team has waived linebacker Jake Ganus.
Ganus went undrafted out of the University of Georgia after this year’s NFL Draft. He had some decent moments during the preseason, but ultimately got caught up in a numbers game at the linebacker position. Ganus primarily projected as a middle linebacker, but found himself behind players like Eric Kendricks, Audie Cole, and fellow rookie Kentrell Brothers at the position.
We haven’t seen any indications one way or another about whether the Vikings would be interested in bringing Ganus back to the practice squad. We won’t know whether they do until Sunday.
We will finish detailing the rest of the Vikings’ cuts to 53 here very shortly.
