If you're an aging Gen-X-er like myself you've noticed "the kids" getting into a newer form of online communication called "Emojis" and probably thought to yourself, "this is the dumbest thing I've ever seen." Texting lingo is already dumbing down the masses and now we literally have a new system of pictograms replacing words in the way we communicate. It's almost as if we've collectively decided to go back in time to Egyptian Hieroglyphs to communicate. Oh wait you say....Emoji's are just a fun way to spice up online communication with neat pictures and images! Oh really? What about this actual book that is published entirely in the "Emoji language"?
Regardless of what you may think of current internet, texting and social media culture, it would appear that the NFL has decided to embrace the Emoji. A couple of days ago they released official emojis for every NFL team, and if you haven't seen it yet you should check it out! If you use twitter, the way to get the Vikings emoji to appear is to type "#skol". The official NFL twitter account announced the new Emojis:
Reactions across twitter to the new Vikings emoji were a little mixed, but here are what some people are saying:
That Vikings emoji is terrible— CJ Fogler (@cjzero) September 7, 2016
@minakimes The Vikings emoji is pretty slick— Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) September 7, 2016
#Skol— yang_allday89 (@VikingsFan_89) September 8, 2016
I'm digging the hashtag emoji!! Haha
@BoItgangSp most other teams got their logo as the emoji but the vikings just get a generic vikings helmet— Top sammy (@MauerEssPee) September 7, 2016
