Horns, Swords and a Longship: January 13,

Well it’s another Friday, let’s see what this one brings us.

What else is new, am I right? Anybody freeze to death on the way into work?

Longship Log

In what I can only describe as a travesty of justice, Linval Joseph has FINALLY been named to his first Pro Bowl.

Around the Horns

VT has an article on Mark Craig’s answers to three questions.

1500ESPN.com has some fun with hindsight. The newest episode of the Purple Podcast is up.

PFF had a few nice things to say about some of the special teamers for the Vikings.

Swords from the Opposing Hordes

The (now) LA Chargers Facebook page has already lost 45K fans and it’s still dropping. Nice article from The Guardian about San Diego standing up to the NFL about public funding for the stadium. Apparently it took some ninny a year to come up with the proposed logo for the newly located franchise. Another nice article on the cost/benefit of a team moving to LA.

Coaching announcements: Wade Phillips will take over as defensive coordinator for the Rams. Sean McVay will assume the role of head coach for the Rams. Anthony Lynn has been named head coach of the San Diego Chargers. The Bucs have agreed on a contract extension with DC Mike Smith. Mike McCoy will apparently be moving on to the Broncos to become their offensive coordinator. The Broncos’ special teams coordinator will be leaving to take the same job in Jacksonville. Leslie Frazier has been hired as the Bills’ defensive coordinator. The Broncos’ offensive line coach has agreed to part ways with the team.

Minnesota Wild update:

The Wild took it to “best goalie in the world” /s Carey Price last night and scored 7 goals against Price in a 7-1 laugher. Duby missed a shutout by literally 10 seconds and the Wild, despite the end of their losing streak, continue to prove that they are one of the hottest teams in the NHL. The Wild return to action this weekend as they play a divisional doubleheader, going on a quick two-game roadtrip to Dallas and Chicago for their third meeting with the Stars and their first meeting with the Blackhawks. Saturday’s game sees the puck drop at 7:00 p.m. CT, and Sunday’s game is at 6:00 p.m. CT.

And because it’s always fun to laugh at misfortune of the Green Bay variety, here’s a video that I’m sure we’ll all enjoy.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion

-No feeding of the trolls

-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)

-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags

-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment

-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the disco light is down and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your local dolphin brigade, & try the dried husks of shellfish limbs.
