Merry post-win Monday, everyone!
As most of you know, I was able to go and enjoy yesterday’s win live and in person. I got to meet several DN members at the dojo before the game, & it was a blast. Thanks to Supa and Cane Chuck for their hospitality once again (sorry I didn’t bring the Old Mil, stupid MN liquor laws and poor planning on my part), it’s always fun seeing those two. Supa is the one who introduced me to tailgating a few years back & I’ve been hooked ever since. I also got to meet Fil and his lovely wife, who are both really cool people & I look forward to seeing them again. I also got to meet Kodiak, another great guy who I look forward to seeing up in his neck of the woods one of these years to do some hunting and/or fishing.
Hey, the game was a great one to attend. The offense moved the ball well, & Bradford was stellar, as was Rudy. The defense gave up yards on the ground, but really held the passing game in check, the corners made some really nice plays to come up with a couple picks, and the defense also forced a fumble/recovery/TD. The special teams was clicking as well, coming up with nice returns and forcing a turnover. It was a really fun game to be a part of and I’m so glad we made it. Two of my buddies from WAY back and their families were there & it was a blast getting together again. Just like old times, only.......we’re older now.
The drive home was pretty good, until the last two hours, which we spent in a blizzard. There were a couple times where I couldn’t even see the lines on the road, so if the thread is a bit short, it’s because I’m tired & ready for bed. Thankfully, we’re home safe & we’re enjoying my day off today.
We can go over the season in more detail in a future post, but right now, let’s savor the victory and our last post-win Monday until next season. SKOL!!!!!!!
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Chris has your post-game wrap-up.
Kyle Rudolph set several records in yesterday’s victory.
Sam Bradford also set some records yesterday, including the all time NFL completion percentage record for a season. Congrats, Sam! I really appreciate all he’s done since coming here.
Chris has your updated NFL playoff picture.
Chris posted the Stock Market Report: Bears.
Vikings news from other sources:
From the Strib, Chad Greenway is relishing every moment in what may be his last season as a Vikings player.
From Vikings.com:
Chad Greenway addressed the media yesterday. He also gave an emotional post-game locker room speech. Chad’s been a hell of a person since coming to Minnesota, and one of my favorite people, I’ll miss seeing him on the team.
Here’s Coach Zimmer’s post-game speech. The Coach also addressed the media after the win.
In case you weren’t able to see the game, here are all the highlights.
Wobby has 10 observations from yesterday’s win.
Around the rest of the NFL:
From NFL.com, here are all of the week 17 scores.
Mike McCoy was fired by the Chargers yesterday, per NFL.com.
From NFL.com, the 49ers also fired their head coach, Chip Kelly, along with their GM. If they’d have fired the GM 3 years ago, they’d still have Harbaugh & wouldn’t have turned into such a tire fire. Dummies.
We come to today’s media selection.
You know what’s coming. Fire up the band, boys & girls!!!!!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the hog maws.
